Over 37 years ago, Dr. Steven C. Kurtin began practice in Plano, Texas, specializing in restoring vision for people with cornea problems. Decades later this Plano Eye Care Center was acquired by his associate doctor. In 2016, he established Kurtin Vision Specialists, located at Methodist off the Dallas Tollway in Addison, Texas. This facility is devoted to treating complex vision issues, corneal disorders, and severe dry eye conditions. Dr. Kurtin learned the skill of opticianry grinding eyeglass lenses while in high school. He attended Michigan's Ferris State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Applied Human Biology with major studies in Psychology. Thereafter, he entered the prestigious University of Houston Eye Institute and graduated with the Doctorate of Optometry. Over the years, in private practice, he specialized in correcting vision from cornea problems, Keratoconus, complications from RK or Lasik surgeries, astigmatism, and myopia progression in children. Dr. Kurtin's latest lens developments include specialty eyeglasses to enhance vision processing and eye tracking called NeuroSight lenses, in cooperation with Shaw Optical Labs. Clinical Research During the late 1980s, Dr. Kurtin served as a clinical investigator for Bausch & Lomb's BiTech soft lens, which was among the earliest soft bifocal contact lenses in the world. In the 1990s, he developed and trademarked the MultiFokus progressive gas permeable contact lens. Entering the 2000s, Dr. Kurtin became one of the first certified, as required by the FDA, to offer Orthokeratology or Paragon CRT night vision correcting therapy. He continues to conduct informal clinical trials to validate marketing claims made by various optical labs. Dr. Kurtin regularly meets with ophthalmologists or eye surgeons to discuss the most recent research on retina, cornea, cataract and oculo-plastics. Public Review
