Over 35 years ago, Dr. Steven C. Kurtin opened The Kurtin Eye Center in Plano, Texas. After being acquired by his associate doctors the name changed to Plano Eye Care. He took time off to volunteer at medical outreach centers helping underserved people needing eye care in Dallas-Fort Worth.
In 2015, he opened Kurtin Vision Specialists inside Methodist Doctor's building off the Dallas Tollway in Addison, Texas. This facility puts together some of the other best doctors in their fields including internal medicine, dermatology and pediatrics.
Dr. Kurtin graduated from Michigan's Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology and work in Psychology. Four years later, he attained the Doctorate of Optometry degree (O.D.) at the prestigious University of Houston Optometry school in Houston, Texas. This Doctor is specially trained to rehabilitate vision due to natural changes corneal disease, severe astigmatism and myopia progression with ortho-k therapy. Dr. Kurtin is known for treating eye tracking problems in children with visually related learning issues too.
In the late 1980's, Dr. Kurtin was a clinical investigator for Bausch & Lomb's BiTech soft lens - one of the world's first soft bifocal contact lens. In the 1990's, Dr. Kurtin trademarked his MultiFokus progressive gas permeable contact lens. Patients prescribed with various Scleral Contact Lens types provide critical feedback for innovating new designs. Marketing claims from optical labs are verified here through informal clinical trials. Dr. Kurtin's network of referring Ophthalmologists or eye surgeons give insight into what technology truly works best for Lasik, PRK, Cataract and Corneal Surgery.

The Consumer's Research Council in Washington D.C. counts Dr. Steven C. Kurtin as one of America's Top Optometrists. He is listed in the National Registry of Who's Who in American Health Care. He is a long standing accredited Better Business Bureau A+ rated member.
