Dr. Steven C. Kurtin, Optometrist & Associates

Serving People Like You For 25 Years...

After working as an Optician before college, Dr. Steven C. Kurtin earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Biology, with honors, and special interest in Psychology, at Michigan's Ferris State University. In 1985, he graduated from The University Eye Institute, in Houston, Texas, with a Doctorate in Optometry. Dr. Kurtin became certified in treating eye diseases after passing The International and National Boards In Optometry.

Dr. Kurtin has advanced education and training to care for people suffering with Keratoconus, Post-LASIK, RK, and Irregular Astigmatism vision problems. Certifications include Refractive and Vision Shaping Therapy, per the FDA, Synergeyes ClearKone, WaveLens HD and Macro GP lens fittings to maximize vision.

"I'm very grateful to people who travel here long distances to get help with their vision."

Presbyopia Treatment

Dr. Kurtin is an expert in Presbyopia treatment-- an age related condition causing close vision to blur. In the late 1980's he did clinical research for Bausch & Lomb's first soft Bifocal Contact Lenses (Bi-Tech) comparing it with Ciba Vision's Spectrum Bifocal. In the 1990's, he developed and trademarked his MultiFokus(R) Lens. In the 2000's he worked with the controversial 'See Clearly Method'. Current work is studying the difference between High Definition versus Standard Soft Disposable Lenses (free lenses after exam & evaluation).

His treatment with Vision Shaping therapy has helped people get off reading glasses during the day. For CrystaLens patients, an eye exercise program was developed to help people see with their 'new' vision.

Accolades

Over the years, many 'Best Doctor' in Collin County Awards were given by Community Newspapers. The Consumer's Research Council in Washington D.C. counts The Kurtin Eye Center as one of America's Top practices. In 1999, Dr. Kurtin was accepted into the National Registry of Who's Who in American Health Care. The practice maintains an A+ Accredited BBB rating.

Personal

Dr. Kurtin enjoys time with family and volunteering. He loves mountain hiking in the summer. He is a singer/songwriter and someday may commercialize his melodies.
